Linux Support at Rutgers
For production Linux systems, we believe the largest use is of Red Hat Enterprise. This is a supported version of Linux, with automated patch delivery. Licenses are $53/system/year for University systems, free for individual faculty, staff and students. It is available through the software portal, software.rutgers.edu.
Help for Linux and other open source operating systems is available from Open Source Solutions, a service of New Brunswick Computing Services. Their site maintains a mirror of Ubuntu Linux. OSS is available for consultation, and for contracts with departments that would like them to maintain systems or do other OSS-related projects.
There is also a Student Linux Users Group, which maintains Linux-related resources.
